As a small school, it is always a huge benefit to be able to work with staff and children from other schools. It opens up wider opportunities for our children and also makes it easier to share good practice, access training and work on common areas of development as a larger team.
We work in a collaborative partnership known as the 'Fabulous 5,' formerly known as the 'Fantastic 4.' Together we work on improving all of our schools and developing what we can offer our children. From a staff point of view, this has included writing moderation workshops as well as Professional Development opportunities such as observing another teacher or learning about a particular issue from a more experienced practitioner.
From a pupil point of view, there have been some wonderful activities for our children to participate in. In 2013, children from the original 4 schools went on the Artists' Retreat Residential at Freiston. At the end of the academic year, and again in 2014 all 4 schools took part in a Musical Theatre project organised by Amanda Rivers. This resulted in a performance of 'The Lion Sleeps Tonight' at Spilsby Theatre. This year, the grand finale of all 4 schools work was at the Embassy Theatre in Skegness as we perform 'Peter Pan.' Our Year 5 children also attended Writers' Workshops with peers from the other schools and worked alongside local author Bill Hussey, before a memorable trip to Whitby, which evoked many images and inspired wonderful writing.
In July 2013, staff from the original 4 schools and some of the children attended and spoke at the 'Schools Working Together' Conference with CfBT, to share our genesis, our present state and our future plans.
